Spikenard essential oil has a deep, root-like, valerian scent. The plant grows at high altitudes in the Himalayas and produces a dense cluster of red and white berries. The roots have a powerful aromatic scent and are steam distilled to produce the essential oil. Spikenard has been used for over 2,000 years as an incense to deepen spiritual practices, promote contemplation and repel bugs.
Wild Spikenard has been over exploited in Nepal; only cultivated Spikenard is available for export. Pranarom USA sells only organic and sustainably cultivated Spikenard in alignment with our commitment to ecological conservation and ethical respect.
Common Uses: Spikenard can be added to diffusers and blends to promote sleep, a healthy stress-response and a calm mind.
